Henry joined Skye Guides in 2023 and then did stints in both spring and autumn ’24. He grew up in the Yorkshire Dales and started climbing on the Gritstone edges. He soon progressed to longer mountain climbs in the Lake District and now lives in North Wales. Work and climbing means that Henry increasingly finds himself in the Highlands.
“My first experience on the Cuillin involved a spectacular cloud inversion, a burst sleeping mat and a good dose of midge: The makings of a memorable Traverse!”
I don’t have much experience with being guided but I would say that Henry was excellent. Very professional throughout but also pleasant to be with for a few days out on the hill. He is extremely patient, encouraging and knowledgeable about the most suitable routes, and gave a strong feeling of security throughout. He was very safety conscious, particularly in relation to loose rocks and potential stone-fall, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him as a guide. IM June 24
Dad has been buzzing ever since and thoroughly enjoyed his day. He did tell us what a gentleman Henry was and how respectful of his experiences. AM September 24
