Terms &Conditions

SKYE GUIDES LIMITED. TERMS & CONDITIONS.

PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY.

The contract undertaken between you (the client) and Skye Guides Limited (the guide) is to protect the interests of both parties. Physical well being, weather and changes in availability can affect both client and guide. Please keep a copy of this form for your records.

BOOKING MONIES.

A deposit (usually £50 per person) is required to confirm the booking. The balance of payment is then due eight weeks before the date of the booking.

CANCELLATION OR CHANGES MADE BY THE CLIENT.

Please telephone immediately if you have to cancel. Confirm this in writing at the same time.

A full refund will be given to any cancellations made more than 3 months before the dates booked. Course deposits are non-returnable less than 3 months before the start of a course.

Cancellation of a booking in the 8 week period before your start date is liable to full payment. We will endeavour to re-let the dates of your booking. If this is possible we will refund the whole or part of your fees excluding the deposit.

Minor alterations to booked dates will be made, where possible, without penalty in the 8 weeks before the original booking.

All or part of your liabilities as stated above may be covered by your Cancellation Insurance if your reason is one of those covered.

CANCELLATION OR CHANGES MADE BY THE GUIDE.

Scottish weather is notoriously fickle, particularly in the mountains. Clients should come suitably dressed and prepared  for outings in poor weather. Your guide is contracted to provide a safe, suitable outing each day. In the Cuillin this can often mean that ambitions and objectives have to be changed at the last minute.

In adverse weather conditions an alternative route or activity will be offered. If you should choose not to take part no refund can be given. If the guide decides that the conditions are too bad for any activity through the first two days of a four-day course, and unlikely to change, the course will be cancelled and a 50% refund will be given. No refund can be made on individually booked days if the weather is too bad to climb.

Bookings made less than a week before the course date are liable for the guides expenses if the day is cancelled.

If the guide is unavailable due to illness, injury or personal circumstances all efforts will be made to arrange a similar itinerary with another of our Skye Guides or guiding company. If this is not possible a full refund of course fees paid will be given. Any costs incurred should be claimed (documentation will be provided) on your Cancellation Insurance.

POSTPONEMENT

Postponement of bookings is made solely at the discretion of Skye Guides and is only given in exceptional circumstances. Clients should come suitably dressed and prepared  for outings in poor weather. At quiet times of year practical postponement may be possible to suit both clients and guides but, again, is at the discretion of Skye Guides.

EXTRA DAYS

Extra days of guiding can be arranged at the last minute depending on the guides’ work schedules.

SUITABLE INSURANCE POLICIES ARE INEXPENSIVE AND WIDELY AVAILABLE. THEY ARE ADVERTISED IN THE CLASSIFIED SECTIONS OF MOST OUTDOOR MAGAZINES.
